UX Researcher / Service Designer (Product Discovery)

About the role

Activate Interactive, a technology consultancy in Singapore, is hiring a mid to senior UX researcher / service designer for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role leads discovery and research on early-stage products, from concept to first release, covering citizen engagement interfaces and internal officer-facing systems. It requires fluency in both generative research and service design.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and run mixed-method research across the discovery lifecycle: generative interviews, contextual inquiry, concept and usability testing, and synthesis into actionable insight.
• Frame problem spaces and research questions for 0 to 1 products, and map service journeys, ecosystems and touchpoints end to end.
• Facilitate workshops on problem framing, ideation, prioritisation and alignment with teams and stakeholders.
• Translate findings into design hypotheses, opportunity areas and prioritised recommendations.
• Work with product, design and engineering teams, and engage agency stakeholders and public officers as participants and collaborators.
• Communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• 5+ years in UX research, service design or product research, with demonstrated 0 to 1 discovery experience.
• Experience researching both external (citizen) and internal (staff/operator) users.
• Experience in government, public sector or other complex multi-stakeholder environments.
• Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive design.

Required skills

• Strong command of qualitative methods and comfort with quantitative inputs where relevant.
• Portfolio showing service design work (journey maps, service blueprints) alongside research deliverables.
• Confident workshop facilitation with mixed groups.
• Ability to structure your own research strategy with limited direction.
