Vice President, Lead Counsel - Markets Fixed Income Asia Legal (Hybrid)

About the role

Citi is hiring a Vice President, Lead Counsel for its Markets Fixed Income Asia Legal team, a hybrid position based in Singapore. The team is a specialized product legal unit spread across Singapore, Hong Kong and Mumbai, covering legal advisory and documentation for a wide range of asset classes and product wrappers such as over-the-counter derivatives, bonds, structured notes, securitization and real estate financing products. The role reports directly to a senior member of the team and covers all the team's requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal and regulatory advice, litigation management and regulatory/policy interpretation, including transactional and advisory work, documentation and business development.
• Advise on and manage multi-jurisdictional regulatory requirements and client document negotiations.
• Manage and prioritize key jurisdictions and key clients, which may include crypto-currency and digital-related matters.
• Assist with product structuring for large episodic trades and flow trades, and advise on bank programs and structures that may include environmental sustainability elements.
• Advise on product development and structures addressing capital adequacy and risk-weighted asset requirements.
• Participate in industry-based initiatives and collaborate with colleagues across Citi.

Required profile

• 8 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in a law firm or financial institution.
• LLB or JD degree.
• Ability to engage with and manage senior business management representatives, and to work independently across regions.

Required skills

• Knowledge of rates, markets treasury, foreign exchange and credit derivatives products, and financial regulatory experience.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to assess issues against the wider regulatory and compliance framework.
