Water Treatment Plant Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Engineer to take full ownership of a Water Treatment Plant (WTP). You will ensure reliable, uninterrupted operation while meeting flow, quality, reliability and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the assigned WTP, ensuring compliance with flow, quality and regulatory standards.
• Lead, coach and guide operators and technicians on safe and consistent practices.
• Optimize chemical usage, energy consumption and manpower without compromising reliability.
• Prepare routine operational reports covering water quality, system performance and chemical consumption.
• Respond to incidents, investigate root causes, implement corrective actions and restore operations promptly.
• Troubleshoot system issues and recommend improvements.
• Build strong client communication, understand needs and propose solutions.
• Plan, schedule and coordinate preventive, corrective and shutdown maintenance with internal and external teams.
• Develop method statements, safe work procedures, risk assessments and obtain necessary permits.
• Supervise work activities to ensure safety, compliance and quality hand‑over.
• Complete service reports, work completion records and close‑out documentation.
• Support commissioning and start‑up activities when required.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years experience in operations, maintenance or construction of water treatment facilities; experience with ultrapure water systems is a plus.
• Strong technical aptitude, problem‑solving capability and accountability.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to work after hours, weekends or public holidays.
• Readiness to travel overseas for maintenance or commissioning work.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team and maintain strong customer relationships.
