Postdoctoral Fellow – AI‑Driven Digitalization of Civil Infrastructure

About the role

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to advance AI‑driven digitalization and intelligent management of civil infrastructure. The role is based in the Digital Intelligence for Structures and Construction (DISC) Laboratory, where cutting‑edge AI techniques are applied to monitoring, automation, and decision‑making for built assets.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research in computer vision, machine learning, large language models, AI agents, and 3D reconstruction for infrastructure digitalization.
• Develop multimodal sensing and semantic understanding methods using images, reports, and sensor data.
• Integrate digital twin technologies and support infrastructure monitoring, construction progress analysis, and decision‑making.
• Execute numerical and physical experiments, prototype deployments in lab and field settings, and publish scientific results.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, research partners, and supervise student activities.

Required profile

• PhD in civil engineering, computer science, electrical/computer engineering, robotics, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in computer vision, deep learning, 3D reconstruction, multimodal sensing, LiDAR processing, or infrastructure monitoring.
• Familiarity with large language models, agentic AI, and AI‑based perception and data integration.
• Strong programming abilities and collaborative communication skills.
