Assistant Chemist (Maritime Service)

About the role

Eurofins Scientific, an international life sciences company offering analytical testing services, is hiring an Assistant Chemist for its Maritime Service in Singapore. The role supports the Lab Manager / Senior Chemist in all aspects of work in the section, covering testing, equipment calibration, reagent preparation and general laboratory tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out testing and calibrate equipment in the section when necessary
• Assist in or perform reagent preparation and standardisation of standard solutions
• Enter results, perform QC checks, maintain inventory, and carry out basic equipment calibration and maintenance
• Maintain equipment and testing records, and help with housekeeping, sample receipt and registration, and preparation of sample bottles
• Highlight abnormalities and discrepancies in testing, calibration and results
• Perform the duties of a Quality Officer for the section
• Update test methods and working instructions under supervision when necessary

Required profile

• Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's degree, Postgraduate Diploma or Professional Degree in Chemistry, Science or equivalent
• Ability to interact with operational personnel, scientific personnel and department management
• Willingness to work with potentially hazardous materials, overtime and weekends as required, and to stand and sit for long periods, including inside a laboratory hood
• Use of PPE (personal protective equipment)
