Chief Operating Officer – South East Asia & India (SEAIME)

About the role

Reporting to the Global COO, Institutional, the Chief Operating Officer – SEAIME leads Institutional Operations across South Asia, ensuring customer, regulatory, risk and strategic priorities are met in India, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos and the Philippines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop Country COO teams, driving execution of customer, risk, regulatory, people and governance outcomes.
• Provide regional oversight of Institutional Operations, monitoring emerging risks, issues and opportunities.
• Own the financial plan and performance, managing operating expenditure, workforce costs, productivity targets and transformation benefits.
• Maintain awareness of regulatory developments and support Country COOs in regulatory engagement.
• Represent customer and country interests within Institutional Operations to shape operational and strategic decisions.
• Influence prioritisation of operational change, simplification and transformation initiatives across the region.

Required profile

• Deep Institutional Banking expertise, including products, operational delivery and multi‑jurisdiction regulatory requirements across South Asia.
• Proven leadership in complex matrix organisations with strong judgement and influence through indirect authority.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, engaging CEOs, regulators and senior executives.
• Strong operational risk, AML, financial crime, compliance and governance experience.
• Ability to lead geographically dispersed teams, build succession pipelines and foster continuous improvement.
