Data Scientist

About the role

GlobalFoundries, a leading semiconductor foundry, is looking for a Data Scientist to join its Data Science team and report to the Lead Data Scientist. The role supports the provision of analytics technical requirements and helps set best practices for analytics use cases, from development and deployment to scaling and maintenance of data science projects.

Key responsibilities

• Work with Lead Data Scientists and business customers to turn their needs into predictive and prescriptive analytics solutions.
• Collaborate with GFIT and the Manufacturing Data Domain group to build data pipelines for scalable analytics solutions.
• Run exploratory data analysis and create visualizations from complex, high-dimensional datasets.
• Identify suitable machine learning or statistical approaches, train models and tune hyperparameters.
• Help deploy models into production with Product Engineers and validate and monitor them for consistent performance.
• Build analytics capability within the teams and communicate the value of analytics to Fab leadership and business partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Economics or Data Science.
• At least 4 years of experience in analytics with a proven track record of innovation.
• Experience building business models in R, Python, SAS, SPSS or STATA; data visualization experience is a big plus.
• Experience in optimization and cloud environments, and in leading an interdisciplinary team through scaling and production of recommendation engines.
• Strong communication, leadership and product mindset, with flexibility for ambiguous problems and unstructured data.
