Principal, Head of Private Markets & Investor Solutions

About the role

Control Risks supports private equity and credit, infrastructure and real assets, real estate, sovereign wealth, and development and multilateral funds with consulting services such as transaction-specific diligence, political and policy risk assessments, commercial intelligence and proactive risk management. This role leads the strategy with private markets investors in Singapore and APAC to position Control Risks as a leading advisor to private market clients.

Key responsibilities

• Define and run the private markets business development campaign, grow the client base and build a public profile as an industry expert through speaking and written thought leadership.
• Manage relationships with industry associations and professional advisors, and identify and nurture new client contacts.
• Lead complex engagements for private markets investors, drawing on expertise from different practices, and develop and manage a human source and subcontractor network.
• Innovate risk-based products using country, compliance and risk intelligence, and ensure proposals reflect client needs and market trends.
• Identify skills gaps in the team and plan to address them, while fostering collaboration across practice areas, offices and regions.
• Ensure pricing, margins and value are understood so lower and higher margin opportunities are captured.

Required profile

• Scoping and delivering complex, repeat engagements for investment, legal and compliance, and ESG or impact teams, and sustaining trusted advisor relationships with senior decision-makers.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent.
• Professional experience in private markets, investment banking or consulting.
• Demonstrable commercial acumen in planning and pricing projects.

Required skills

• Excellent communication, listening and negotiation skills in English (and preferably another Asian language).
• Advanced analytical and report writing skills in English (and preferably another Asian language).
• Methodical approach, strong project management, and ability to multi-task under time pressure.
