Procurement Specialist – Build Local Procurement Capability

About the role

We are looking for a pioneering Procurement Specialist to create and lead our local procurement function within the Material Handling Equipment (MHE) sector. This newly created position will shape the procurement strategy, build supplier networks, and drive commercial excellence from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the procurement framework, processes, and governance for the new function.
• Develop sourcing strategies for locally sourced MHE categories, including OEM parts, components, equipment, consumables, and service contracts.
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers meeting safety, quality, cost, delivery, sustainability, and compliance standards.
• Lead RFx processes, negotiate prices, and establish frame contracts in line with corporate policy.
• Set up procurement metrics, dashboards, and supplier scorecards from scratch.
• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Asset Management, Workshop, Finance, and Legal to capture requirements and technical specifications.
• Support CAPEX planning, tender large‑scale infrastructure and technology projects, and drive sustainability and risk‑mitigation strategies.
• Champion digital tools and automation for transparency and scalability.
• Create vendor management programs, establish KPIs, and oversee service contract performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in industrial, engineering or heavy‑equipment sectors.
• Proven ability to build procurement functions and supplier ecosystems from inception.
• Data‑driven mindset with strong analytical and organizational capabilities.
• Self‑starter with excellent negotiation, vendor management and contract development skills.
• Understanding of MHE components and service structures is a plus.

Required skills

• Extensive experience with SAP (or other ERP/procurement systems).
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
