Senior Data Scientist - Computer Vision & Deep Learning

About the role

Micron is hiring a Senior Data Scientist who applies mathematics, statistics, semiconductor physics, materials science and information technology to turn data into predictive models and actionable insights. The role works closely with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Business Area Engineers and UX teams, and involves developing software, algorithms and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from many sources. It sits within a semiconductor manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement computer vision systems and deep learning models for object detection, image segmentation, anomaly detection and automated inspection, including experience with cameras and vision inspection systems.
• Apply advanced AI techniques such as few-shot learning, generative AI and multimodal fusion (text, image, time-series) to solve manufacturing and environmental monitoring challenges.
• Lead collaboration with engineering, operations and quality teams, including project management, technical writing and mentoring engineers in data science tools.
• Develop methods and systems to consolidate and analyse unstructured big data sources and generate insights for product improvement.
• Work with product and service teams to define analysis questions and experiments, then deploy data science models and own their full lifecycle, from design and development to deployment, maintenance and monitoring.
• Interpret and communicate insights from large data and metadata sources to product, service and business managers.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or Data Science with at least 3 years of data science experience.
• Foundation in statistical modelling, advanced analytics and modern machine learning.
• At least 3 years of computer vision and deep learning experience in image analytics, with a good understanding of image processing.
• Experience in semiconductor yield analysis and process optimisation (e.g. FDC, SPC, probe data).
• Experience deploying production-grade AI solutions on cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform.
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex data insights to non-technical audiences, and proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Strong Python, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience and SQL.
• Web development with Angular or FastAPI or Docker.
• Preferred: experience with generative AI and large language models, contributions to top-tier conferences (CVPR, NeurIPS, ICML, KDD), and optimising production ML models for performance and scalability.
