SMT Process Engineer

About the role

Citadel Search is recruiting an experienced SMT Process Engineer to develop, optimize and sustain SMT processes for PCBA assembly. The engineer drives process control, yield improvement and defect reduction within a pioneering team setting up a new manufacturing facility in Singapore.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize SMT processes, including solder paste printing parameters, component placement accuracy and reflow profiles
• Establish and maintain process parameters, control limits and work instructions
• Monitor and improve SMT yield, defect rates and process capability (Cpk)
• Analyze and resolve SMT defects such as solder bridging, voiding, insufficient solder and component misalignment
• Run Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize process performance
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) builds and process transfers
• Work with Machine Engineering, Quality and Production teams to meet quality standards and reliability requirements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, Electronics Engineering or a related field
• At least 5 years of SMT process engineering experience
• Hands-on defect analysis experience covering bridging, tombstoning, voiding and misalignment
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment

• Solder paste printing, pick and place and reflow soldering
• Solder materials, stencil design, thermal profiling and reflow optimization
• PCB and component design constraints
• Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process capability analysis (Cpk)
• DOE methodology
• Inspection tools: SPI, AOI and X-ray
