Software Engineer (AI Applications)

About the role

GlobalFoundries is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Digital Manufacturing AI team and help build AI-powered applications and intelligent assistants for semiconductor manufacturing. You will work at the intersection of software engineering, Generative AI, data and semiconductor manufacturing, developing scalable applications that integrate manufacturing data, enterprise systems and AI capabilities to improve engineering productivity and decision-making.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain full-stack software applications using modern engineering practices.
• Build and maintain backend services with Python, Flask, REST APIs and relational databases.
• Develop responsive frontend applications with Angular, React, Vue or similar frameworks.
• Integrate applications with manufacturing databases, APIs, dashboards and enterprise systems.
• Develop reusable software components, services and workflows.
• Support AI-powered capabilities such as RAG, AI assistants and agent-based workflows.
• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers and manufacturing subject matter experts.
• Take part in code reviews, defect triage, performance tuning and continuous improvement.
• Follow software engineering, cybersecurity, data governance and Responsible AI best practices.
• Use Git, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing to deliver features safely and efficiently.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Data Science or a related field.
• Experience with Python and Flask for backend development.
• Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern frontend framework (Angular, React or Vue).
• Experience with SQL, relational databases and structured data.
• Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies and modern software development practices.
• Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills, and interest in Generative AI.
