Electrical Engineer Internship

About the role

Focus Machinery Pte Ltd, a heavy machinery importer and exporter serving the plastic manufacturing industry in Singapore, Malaysia and part of Indonesia, is offering an on-site electrical engineering internship at The Workshop @ AMK. The intern works alongside a senior technician or engineer under supervision, with hands-on work and on-the-job training. The project involves programming a PLC to enable remote monitoring of machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Program a programmable logic controller (PLC) to enable remote monitoring of machinery from a remote location.
• Understand the client's technical specifications and business requirements.
• Document technical and business requirements according to engineering specifications and ISO standards.
• Propose and implement electrical designs that overcome technical limitations and improve equipment usability.
• Consider Ingress Protection (IP) standards so equipment is protected against sunlight, water, heat and humidity.
• Propose a reasonable timeline, project schedule and deliverables.
• Carry out a proof-of-concept implementation and demonstrate it to the internal team.

Required profile

• Knowledge of electronics, electrical circuitry and technical drawing, including reading and interpreting circuits and drawings.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuit faults.
• No formal education required; candidates with a keen attitude and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
• Basic physical fitness, as the role involves moving heavy objects and tools up to 20 kg.
