Electrical Engineer - Marine Commissioning

About the role

An Electrical Engineer is needed in Singapore to carry out testing, commissioning and maintenance of marine electrical systems, including propulsion, power generation and deck machinery. The role involves hands-on work on board vessels and in workshops, with travel to anchorage, local and overseas sites.

Key responsibilities

• Test and commission marine propulsion systems, power generation systems (marine and land), deck machinery and similar equipment.
• Diagnose faults, troubleshoot and maintain marine systems and components in workshops and on board.
• Read and interpret electrical and pneumatic engineering drawings.
• Perform hands-on mechanical repair, installation and removals.
• Carry out pre-commissioning, commissioning and function testing of high and low voltage switchboards, HV/LV motors, HV/LV transformers and starter panels (DOL, star-delta, VFD).
• Perform isolations and de-isolations on HV/LV switchboards and panels.
• Manage commissioning site activities, tools, loose items, consumables and spares, and liaise with vendors on their packages.
• Troubleshoot faults found during commissioning tests and close out the punch list.
• Complete and submit commissioning documentation such as check sheets, test procedures and red-line marked-up drawings, and prepare daily timesheets.
• Attend tool box talks, permit-to-work meetings and site acceptance tests, and adhere to the commissioning schedule.

Required profile

• Minimum NITEC or diploma in Electrical.
• At least 1 year of working experience in the marine industry.
• Able to travel on short notice to anchorage, local and overseas sites and to work on board.
