Finance Manager – Research Grants (2‑year contract)

About the role

The Finance Manager will be based at the AISG unit of NTU on a two‑year full‑time contract. The role oversees all grant‑related financial activities, ensuring compliance with university policies and external regulations while supporting senior management with accurate reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor all AISG‑managed grants to guarantee availability and compliance with grant terms.
• Align financial procedures with university policies and support year‑end audit and tax filing processes.
• Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain up‑to‑date grant financial systems.
• Manage research project financial data, ensuring timely and accurate grant submissions in line with NTU policies and harmonised guidelines.
• Prepare periodic grant expense claim reports and management reports for senior leadership.
• Coordinate budgeting and financial reporting with research teams.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors for grant certification and year‑end audits.
• Mentor, guide and motivate staff, identifying training needs and development opportunities.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; CA/CPA/ACCA preferred.
• 8–10 years of finance experience, including at least 5 years in research grant finance within a university, research institute or public sector.
• Proven track record managing high‑volume research grants, covering budgeting, utilisation monitoring, claims and compliance.
• Experience supporting grant certification audits and liaising with auditors.
• Strong financial reporting skills and hands‑on experience with finance and research‑grant systems.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor staff and work closely with researchers and senior management.
• Detail‑oriented, organised and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced research environment.
