Hands-on IT Infrastructure Manager

Job description
About the role
A Singapore-based SME with overseas operations is looking for a hands-on IT Infrastructure Manager to manage and improve its IT environment. The role combines daily technical troubleshooting with infrastructure upgrades, systems integration and IT transformation, and requires someone who can lead a lean IT team while staying hands-on in technical implementation.
Key responsibilities
- Lead IT transformation and modernisation: assess the current IT environment, plan a transformation roadmap, and personally execute infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations, automation and regional standardisation, covering testing, cutover, rollback planning, documentation and user adoption.
- Manage computer systems across branch offices, including Windows and macOS, and standardise procurement, installation, maintenance and replacement.
- Own Linux servers and open-source platforms: install, configure, secure, patch, monitor, automate and troubleshoot them, with clear documentation.
- Manage network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/VPN/cloud services) for branch offices worldwide.
- Plan and execute end-to-end integration of servers, storage, file systems, identity and access management, email, applications, APIs, databases and cloud platforms, and resolve interoperability issues across Linux, Windows and macOS.
- Integrate Microsoft 365, Apple iCloud and Google Workspace in hybrid cloud environments.
- Lead IT integration projects for multinational subsidiaries and set IT governance policies compliant with local regulations and group standards.
- Implement endpoint security, patch management, antivirus and data loss prevention (DLP).
- Define security standards and audit mechanisms, run vulnerability assessments and penetration tests, and train staff on compliance with ISO 27001 and GDPR.
- Occasional travel to branch offices and overseas sites is required.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree or above in Information Management, Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of IT/MIS experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role, with proven multinational IT systems integration and project management experience.
- Proven track record of leading and personally delivering end-to-end IT transformation projects, from assessment and design through implementation, migration and post-deployment support.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English, and spoken and written Chinese.
- Self-starter who can work independently under pressure, with strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Required skills
- Linux administration and troubleshooting, including command-line tools, shell scripting, package management, permissions, networking, performance tuning, patching and hardening.
- Open-source technologies, LAN/WAN/VPN network architecture, virtualization/containers, monitoring, backup and automation.
- Systems integration, APIs, identity services, information security, auditing, DLP, firewalls and endpoint security.
- Preferred: Linux certifications (RHCSA/RHCE, LFCS/LFCE), Microsoft Azure or Microsoft 365 certifications, Apple certification, and CISSP/CCNP/PMP.
