Market Risk Advisor (Fixed-Term, 18 Months)

About the role

Rio Tinto is looking for an Advisor - Market Risk to help build and operationalise its Market Risk Management Framework for Rio Tinto Commercial. The role sits within the global commercial hub in Singapore and works closely with the Sales & Marketing, Digital and Finance teams, reporting to the Senior Manager Business Planning and Market Risk.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with Trading to report mark-to-market P&L and risk positions on a daily basis.
• Perform detailed data analytics to identify and explain risks and P&L drivers.
• Monitor risk and position limits and raise breaches in line with the Market Risk Framework.
• Discuss trading strategy and positions with trading and risk teams.
• Run a monthly risk review for the assigned book, explaining risk and performance against the trading book strategy.
• Support due diligence, review and implementation of new transactions and trading activities.
• Initiate continuous improvement and automation in the reporting process.

Required profile

• Degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in physical commodity trading and risk management.
• Good understanding of risk reporting.
• History of adapting and acquiring new skills, good interpersonal skills and a team player.
