Mechanical Engineer - New Product Development

About the role

A full-time Mechanical Engineer position based in Singapore's North Region, working with customers and the company's US counterparts on new bellow assembly designs and their applications. The role covers product design, process definition, validation and liaison with customers and vendors.

Key responsibilities

• Study and analyse customer design requirements, specifications and data to evaluate feasibility, cost and tooling/equipment needs.
• Design new products using 3D CAD and perform FEA modelling; design jigs and fixtures when needed.
• Define manufacturing processes for new products and set up the shop floor route.
• Check drawing accuracy and release drawings for prototype and mass production.
• Lead NPI activities, coordinate and follow through FAI builds, and raise engineering change notices (ECNs).
• Set up bills of material and routing for new part numbers in the ERP system.
• Perform product validation against design specifications and customer requirements.
• Work with vendors to fabricate and test functional prototypes, component changes and design improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or a related technical discipline.
• At least 4 years of experience in mechanical product design with jig and fixture design exposure.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modelling and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA).
• Familiarity with machining and stamping fabrication processes.
• GTAW and PAW welding experience preferred; CWI certification an added advantage.
