Principal - Regulatory Compliance & Deputy MLRO

About the role

Nium provides global infrastructure for real-time cross-border payments, with co-headquarters in San Francisco and Singapore. As Deputy MLRO for Singapore, you will work within Nium's global compliance team, which oversees regulatory compliance, client onboarding, transaction monitoring and the detection and prevention of financial crime, including money laundering and terrorist financing.

Key responsibilities

• Support the MLRO in overseeing and improving the AML/CFT program
• Conduct risk assessments and maintain regulatory documentation such as the Key Regulatory Obligations Register, compliance policies and AML/CFT frameworks
• Advise on compliance and AML/CFT for new products, business models and use cases
• Improve compliance operations through automation, technology and machine-learning solutions
• Ensure Client Due Diligence requests are resolved within agreed timeframes and escalate issues promptly
• Carry out periodic, trigger-based and ad hoc AML reviews, escalating adverse news and elevated risks
• Review and resolve transaction monitoring and name-screening alerts in a timely way
• Prepare and submit Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and ensure accurate reporting to the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)
• Prepare compliance reports for senior management and Compliance Committees

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in compliance roles within regulated environments
• Strong expertise in compliance and AML/CFT, including KYC/KYB, sanctions and financial crime
• Solid understanding of the payments and fintech industry; prior payments or fintech experience preferred
• ACAMS and/or ICA certification preferred
• Fluency in English
