Research Associate – Carbon-Enhanced Concrete Materials

About the role

The Energy Research Institute @ NTU seeks a Research Associate to develop and evaluate carbon‑enhanced concrete materials. The role involves laboratory research, material testing, and life‑cycle assessment to create sustainable, high‑performance concrete for large‑scale applications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new concrete formulations incorporating various carbon materials while ensuring secure carbon storage.
• Conduct comprehensive testing of mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties of the advanced concrete.
• Perform cost‑benefit and life‑cycle assessment (LCA) analyses of the developed materials.
• Demonstrate the materials in suitable large‑scale projects and collaborate with the research group.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in material science, civil engineering, chemical engineering or a related field from a reputable university.
• Relevant research experience with a strong record of journal publications; prior work on similar topics is a plus.
• Hands‑on experience in nano‑ or micro‑structural material tailoring, sustainable concrete or geopolymer development, and analytical testing.
• Ability to write scientific papers and reports clearly.
