About the role
The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at NTU Singapore seeks a Research Associate to support the project “The Self‑healing Cement Additive and Its Applications”. The role involves developing a novel additive that enables concrete to repair its own cracks and evaluating its performance in laboratory and structural tests.
Key responsibilities
- Develop a self‑healing cement additive and explore its applications in concrete materials and structures.
- Perform chemical synthesis and analysis of the additive.
- Prepare concrete samples and conduct mechanical testing.
- Carry out microstructural characterisation using XRD, TGA, FTIR and SEM‑EDX.
- Analyse results, document progress and report according to project milestones.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or a related field.
- Strong academic standing with publications in reputable journals.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Strong references from previous supervisors.
Required skills
- Chemical synthesis and analysis.
- Concrete sample preparation.
- Mechanical testing of cementitious materials.
- Microstructural characterisation techniques: XRD, TGA, FTIR, SEM‑EDX.
