Research Associate – Self-healing Cement Additive

About the role

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at NTU Singapore seeks a Research Associate to support the project “The Self‑healing Cement Additive and Its Applications”. The role involves developing a novel additive that enables concrete to repair its own cracks and evaluating its performance in laboratory and structural tests.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a self‑healing cement additive and explore its applications in concrete materials and structures.
• Perform chemical synthesis and analysis of the additive.
• Prepare concrete samples and conduct mechanical testing.
• Carry out microstructural characterisation using XRD, TGA, FTIR and SEM‑EDX.
• Analyse results, document progress and report according to project milestones.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or a related field.
• Strong academic standing with publications in reputable journals.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Strong references from previous supervisors.
