Research Engineer II – Sustainable Hydronic Cooling Systems

About the role

The Energy Research Institute at NTU is seeking a Research Engineer II to join the Sustainable Built Environment team. The role focuses on developing and testing sustainable hydronic cooling systems for tropical megacities, integrating HVAC, thermal storage, and data‑driven control technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with project partners, industry, and external stakeholders.
• Lead technical deployment of testbeds and instrumentation for hydronic cooling and green building solutions.
• Conduct research, analysis, and performance assessment of testbeds.
• Prepare and submit project and test reports.
• Collaborate with industry partners on site implementation and demonstration.
• Engage stakeholders, deliver presentations, and facilitate workshops.
• Assist in authoring technical publications.
• Participate in project discussions related to implementation details.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Clean/Renewable Energy, Building Engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity with district‑level cooling systems, green building technology, HVAC systems, and sustainable building design.
• Experience with energy measurement and verification for built‑environment applications.
• Ability to work with industry partners and multidisciplinary research teams.
