About the role
The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at NTU is seeking a Research Fellow to lead experimental work on human kidney organoids for studying congenital kidney diseases. The role is part of a Ministry of Education Tier‑2 project and involves designing, executing, and interpreting cutting‑edge stem‑cell‑based disease models.
Key responsibilities
- Design and carry out experiments using human pluripotent stem cells to generate kidney organoids and apply CRISPR‑Cas9 genome editing.
- Perform multi‑omics, imaging, RNA‑seq and single‑cell transcriptomic analyses to uncover disease mechanisms.
- Prepare manuscripts, research reports, and grant applications; present findings at scientific meetings.
- Supervise and mentor junior researchers, including research associates, PhD students, and interns.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, shared platforms, and ensure compliance with good laboratory practices.
Required profile
- PhD in stem cell biology, developmental biology, cell biology, molecular biology, biomedical sciences or related field.
- 3–4 years of relevant research experience with human pluripotent stem cells, organoid models, or disease modelling.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
