Veterinarian – Animal Research Facility

About the role

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine seeks a qualified veterinarian to provide high‑quality medical care for laboratory animal species in its research facility. The role involves preventative health, diagnostics, treatment, surgery and welfare oversight for a diverse animal population.

Key responsibilities

• Prevent, diagnose, control and treat disease; perform necropsies when required.
• Prescribe and administer treatments, including euthanasia, and manage a sentinel animal health monitoring system.
• Oversee quarantine protocols, nutritional requirements, bio‑exclusion controls and environmental enrichment programs.
• Maintain drug procurement, inventory, and controlled‑drug logbooks in compliance with university and statutory standards.
• Provide expert advice on analgesics, anaesthetics, aseptic surgical techniques and emergency critical care.
• Serve on the IACUC committee, review animal use protocols and ensure humane endpoints.

Required profile

• Degree in veterinary medicine and AVS licence (or restricted licence) with 2‑3 years experience in laboratory animal care.
• Experience in research‑setting veterinary practice, including drug handling and regulatory compliance.
• Commitment to a three‑year fixed‑term contract.
