About the role
The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at NTU Singapore seeks a Research Fellow to lead investigations on self‑healing ductile cementitious composites aimed at durable and resilient coastal protection infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct research and development of self‑healing ductile cementitious composites.
- Execute project milestones in line with the “Self‑Healing Ductile Cementitious Composites for Durable and Resilient Coastal Protection Infrastructure” programme.
- Prepare concrete samples, perform mechanical testing, and carry out microstructural characterisation.
Required profile
- PhD in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or a related discipline.
- Strong academic record with several publications in reputable journals.
- Excellent references from previous supervisors.
Required skills
- Chemical synthesis and analysis.
- Concrete sample preparation.
- Mechanical testing of cementitious materials.
- Microstructural characterisation techniques such as X‑ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier‑transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy with EDX (SEM‑EDX).
- Knowledge of carbon sequestration in cement‑based materials (preferred).
