Senior Orthoptist - Tengah General and Community Hospital

About the role

The new Tengah General and Community Hospital, part of the National University Health System (NUHS) cluster, is being built in Tengah Evergreen Town as a comprehensive health campus offering emergency, inpatient, rehabilitative and outpatient specialist care. It is expected to be ready by the early 2030s. The Senior Orthoptist contributes to planning and delivers orthoptics services in this facility.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to planning of orthoptics services, including space, design, workflow and manpower considerations
• Collaborate with clinical, allied health, operational and administrative stakeholders on service planning
• Assess and manage patients referred for orthoptics assessment independently, implementing treatment plans using specialised orthoptics knowledge and skills
• Coordinate patient care with physicians, allied health professionals and other stakeholders, and collaborate in case conferences and interdisciplinary referrals
• Mentor and run competency training sessions for junior orthoptists
• Document clinical assessments and treatments accurately in electronic medical records
• Network with healthcare practitioners in NUHS and comply with clinical and service standards
• Assist with administrative duties as tasked

Required profile

• Bachelor of Orthoptics or equivalent, or Master of Orthoptics
• Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively in diverse contexts
• Adaptability, ability to multi-task and manage time well
• Effective problem-solving, planning and organising skills, including awareness of resource management
