Senior System Firmware Engineer

About the role

XP Power, a designer and manufacturer of electronic power conversion products serving industrial, healthcare, semiconductor equipment and technology markets, is hiring a Senior System Firmware Engineer in Singapore. Reporting to the Firmware Team Lead or Project Manager, the engineer works on switching mode power supply development, from firmware and verification to prototyping and beta manufacturing support.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in product definition, specification and requirements analysis with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Collaborate on firmware architecture and development strategy, especially for wired and wireless networks.
• Design new products, modify existing designs and improve performance or cost.
• Design, code, integrate, test, support and enhance software for power conversion systems, and perform system integration and validation testing.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and deliver embedded and PC software in regulated product development.
• Coach junior firmware engineers, provide technical direction to the team and support the factory on design issues.
• Work with remote and local teams on integration with the hardware team, and take part in software qualification such as SFMEA and code reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5-7 years of related work experience.
• Good understanding of power supply topologies and analog/digital circuitry is a plus.
• Experience with embedded debugging, embedded or DSP control algorithms, and communication stacks (I2C, SPI, RS-485, PMBus, Modbus, Ethernet).
• Comfortable using oscilloscopes, multimeters and power supplies, and reading schematics and data sheets.
• Experience collaborating with remote teams and reproducing intermittent failures.
