System Software Engineer (OT/IoT)

About the role

Assurity Trusted Solutions (ATS), a subsidiary of the Government Technology Agency (GovTech), is looking for a multidisciplinary System Software Engineer with OT and IoT foundations and solid software development experience. The role sits at the intersection of engineering, software and operations, covering the design, integration and secure deployment of complex connected systems, from concept and prototyping to production rollout. It also includes contributions to system architecture, CI/CD automation and product roadmap execution.

Key responsibilities

• Design, evaluate, operate and maintain devices and platform infrastructure.
• Integrate systems, applications and IoT devices into a unified solution using cloud technologies.
• Connect hardware to software platforms via serial, USB, GPIO, network interfaces and OT protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus and BACnet.
• Perform basic wiring, calibration and troubleshooting of electronic devices.
• Create and maintain IoT and application setups for secure, scalable cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Optimise application and backend services for performance under load and high availability.
• Implement encryption at rest and in transit and follow cloud security best practices.
• Develop and maintain user input workflows and contribute to web and cloud-native applications.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and monitoring, and integrate machine learning models for automated verification and predictive analytics.
• Add multimodal guidance such as voice prompts and instructional videos.
• Ensure compliance with governance guidelines and cloud regulations, and support tender specifications.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in web and backend application development with cloud exposure.
• Hands-on experience deploying and scaling IoT workloads on cloud platforms.
• Ability to interface hardware with software and understand user-centric design.
• Familiarity with basic electronics (wiring, power management, circuit troubleshooting).

Required skills

• At least one OOP language such as Java or C++, plus a scripting language (e.g. Python, JavaScript) and frontend frameworks (e.g. React, Angular).
• Application design, testing and troubleshooting in cloud-native environments.
• Cloud application architecture, microservices and serverless computing.
• OT protocols: OPC UA, Modbus, BACnet.
