Technical Sales & Service Engineer - Functional Electronic Coatings

About the role

MKS is looking for a Technical Sales & Service Engineer for its Functional Electronic Coatings (FEC) business, reporting to the Business Development Manager. The role combines technical expertise, customer relationship management and business development to grow the business by promoting innovative chemicals solutions and supporting customers from qualification through to commercial implementation. It is based in Singapore.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities, prospect customers and maintain an active sales pipeline
• Promote the product portfolio, understand customer manufacturing processes and recommend plating solutions
• Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations and customer training, and coordinate product evaluations, lab trials and production qualifications
• Prepare technical proposals, quotations and commercial recommendations with the Business Development Manager
• Build relationships with engineering, production, quality, purchasing and management teams, and visit customers regularly
• Provide first-line technical support, troubleshoot issues and work with Technical Service specialists on complex investigations
• Coordinate customer qualification projects from trial through to production approval and track project milestones

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Metallurgy, Electrochemistry, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline
• 3-8 years of experience in technical sales, application engineering, technical service or process engineering in electronics, semiconductor (IDM or OSATS) or surface finishing
• Experience in plating and/or surface finishing is highly desirable; B2B customer-facing experience preferred
• Flexibility to travel up to 60% of the time to Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines, with occasional international travel

Required skills

• Desirable: knowledge of copper, nickel, palladium, gold, silver and tin plating, deflash, selective and reel-to-reel plating, high-speed cut strip plating, connector and leadframe manufacturing, semiconductor assembly and packaging, adhesion promotion, process control and chemical bath maintenance
• Strong technical aptitude, problem-solving, communication and presentation skills, and commercial awareness
