Global Head of Financial Crime Strategy

About the role

Nium, a global infrastructure for real-time cross-border payments, is hiring a Global Head of Financial Crime Strategy in Singapore. As the architect of its global financial crime combatting strategy, you will empower MLROs and Country Compliance Officers with a world-class, tech-driven framework, unified policies and scalable tooling, so that in-country compliance leaders meet regulatory expectations including audits and inspections.

Key responsibilities

• Review and refine policies and frameworks to stay fit for purpose, forward-looking and aligned with emerging risks and new ML/TF typologies
• Implement effective AML/CFT controls across the group with internal stakeholders to meet regulatory requirements
• Cascade and monitor the Board's risk appetite across all entities, payments services, cards and emerging products
• Develop a group-level AML/CFT control framework that allows local legal "add-ons"
• Partner with Product and Engineering to build a "Global Compliance Stack" of KYC, screening and AI/ML-powered transaction monitoring
• Lead technical selection of FinCrime compliance vendors for quality and cost-efficiency at global scale
• Conduct global and regional risk assessments and oversee complex investigations and STR filings
• Build, mentor and lead a cross-border compliance team, and drive continuous improvement in KYC/CDD/EDD workflows, rule validation and back-testing

Required profile

• 12+ years of senior compliance leadership in a global payments firm, fintech or international bank
• Familiarity with FinCrime regulations worldwide, including the Payment Services Act, BSA/USA PATRIOT Act and cross-border payment standards
• Ability to lead a matrixed organisation where regional MLROs report locally but look to you for functional direction
• Understanding of high-velocity payments, crypto-linkages and digital-first onboarding
• Role as Level 2 escalation point for complex, cross-border financial crime cases
