Business Development Manager (Freight Forwarding)

About the role

Toll Group, part of Japan Post, is looking for a Business Development Manager (Freight Forwarding) for its Singapore Sales & Marketing Team. This is a hunter role focused on bringing new accounts onto board for ocean, air and customs brokerage. The company has 500 sites in 27 markets and a forwarding network spanning 150 countries.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively acquire new customers for ocean, air and customs brokerage and grow revenue and volume to achieve economies of scale and service reliability.
• Build strong, long-lasting relationships with new and existing customers and partner with the Toll network to increase volumes in key trade lanes and verticals.
• Act as the primary sales contact for assigned customers and maintain a sales pipeline to meet growth targets, turning leads into prospects and customers.
• Use the Global CRM platform to document sales activities and customer details.
• Take part in regional and local RFP/RFQ processes, develop solutions and pricing, negotiate and close deals, and support the Freight Forwarding Manager.

Required profile

• 2-3 years of hunter experience in Business Development in Forwarding within the region.
• Ability to research market trends and opportunities, particularly in air and ocean freight.
• Must be entitled to work in Singapore and willing to undergo pre-employment checks including a criminal history check and medical.
