Job description
About the role
This role provides training and logistics management for bpMS sea staff and lines, and manages the logistics team and tagged sea staff. It covers recruitment, training and development, employee relations, co-chairmanship of the Training Working Group and compliance with applicable laws. The incumbent works closely with the crewing team and engages sea staff through ship visits and other forums. The role is also accountable for ensuring officers supplied by bp Maritime Services (Singapore) meet all mandatory STCW prerequisites, including medical and training course requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the team of Admin and Logistic Officers, including appraisals and development planning, and manage the performance, development and training of Chief officers and Cadets.
- Develop and monitor fleet training requirements, advise on training issues and deliver the Learning and Development strategy.
- Lead logistical crewing activities so officers can join and depart vessels safely, and support the 3rd party travel and medical providers through quarterly performance reviews and KPI monitoring.
- Co-chair the Training Working Group, support disciplinary procedures for tagged officers and manage costs for training, logistics and cadet development.
- Produce training management reports, recruit cadets and officers, and support the delivery of marine expertise to BP Shipping and the wider BP Group.
- Ensure bpMS follows a quality management system based on OMS standards and supports self-verification of service deliveries.
Required profile
- A university degree or equivalent experience or diploma preferred; behaviour and a strong track record of high performance matter more than the educational profile.
- Experience in marine industry training requirements and in a crewing office or other maritime operations.
- Proven experience in managing people, vendor management and strong facilitation and communication skills.
- Engagement with sea staff during ship visits, dockings, conferences and office visits.
What we offer
- A company culture that values diverse teams, achievements and giving back to the environment.
- Social communities and networks, plus learning and development opportunities.
- Life and health insurance and a medical care package.
- Hybrid office/remote working; some travel may be required, and the role is not eligible for relocation.
